Mindfulness Courses, Workshops & Sessions
for Students & School Staff
Schools, and the world of education, can be crazy places. Exciting and challenging; fun yet overwhelming; stressful and demanding. There don't seem to be many times during a school day or week when we can stop and process it all.
Most of us - teenagers and adults - who work in / attend schools can experience feelings of stress or difficulty in this setting.
Sometimes we can get very caught up in thoughts about the past - perhaps about what happened on a particular day or hour; with whom and why. Or we can get very involved in what might happen in the future; for example, worrying if we'll meet deadlines, targets or other people's expectations.
Wouldn't it be good to have a "pause" button in the middle of all this?
Mindfulness training helps us to re-connect with the present moment. We gradually learn to tune in to our inner states, and become aware of the sensations, emotions and thoughts in our body and mind.
Having a moment to step back from the frantic pace of school-life can mean we calm ourselves. When we are ready to reconnect with daily life again, we return fresher and with new eyes: we are able to gain more space and perspective on what's difficult, while being more able to appreciate moments of joy and fun, as well.
I offer taster sessions and eight-week mindfulness courses for those involved in education: both adults (MBSR or .b Foundation) and for primary school children and adolescents (paws b / .b). I also run courses for the general public. These courses deliver skills and approaches that help us to become more present to our experience and that make life a little easier and less stressful for everyone.
